Add the chatbot to your website
Follow the setup guide: add your FAQ as knowledge, try the answers in the test console, paste one line of code into your site and switch the chatbot on. When it cannot answer, it hands over to a person.
Chatbot — setup guide
Step 1 / 6
Open the Chatbot page
Open Chatbot in the dashboard. The setup guide at the top lists five steps — connect a channel, add knowledge, try it, review drafts and go live — and shows what is done and what comes next.
Every step in text
1Open the Chatbot page
Open Chatbot in the dashboard. The setup guide at the top lists five steps — connect a channel, add knowledge, try it, review drafts and go live — and shows what is done and what comes next.
2Choose web chat as the channel
Step one is a connected channel. Web chat is always available, so it is the quickest place to start — other channels can be added later once they are set up.
3Paste your FAQ as knowledge
Under Knowledge, paste your FAQ as text and save it. The chatbot answers only from what you give it — if the answer is not there, it hands over instead of guessing.
4Try it in the test console
Ask a question in the Test console. Nothing is sent to anyone. Try something your FAQ covers and something it does not — the second should be handed over to a person.
5Copy the widget snippet into your site
Copy the snippet and paste it into your site just before `</body>`. The key is the public key you already use for web tracking. Add your site to the allowed origins so the chat only loads where you want it.
6Review, then go live
Switch the chatbot on under Go live. If a visitor asks for a person, or the chatbot cannot answer, the conversation lands in your inbox and a team member takes over.
